Description

Based on Sporty’s popular handheld E6B Electronic Flight Computer, the E6B app has been designed from the ground up to make the most of iOS on the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. The software is based on the tried and true formulas and algorithms developed over the years by Sporty’s team of over 50 pilots. Its pilot-friendly design makes quick work of any navigational, conversion or fuel problem and it also performs conventional arithmetic calculations. The advanced timer/clock feature simultaneously tracks Zulu, Local and Home time zones. The timer counts either up or down, and will display an alert when reaching zero. 22 AVIATION FUNCTIONS -Pressure & Density Altitude -Planned True Airspeed -Heading and Groundspeed -Leg Time -Fuel Required -Crosswind, Headwind and Tailwind -Cloud Base -Actual True Airspeed -Wind Speed and Direction -Groundspeed -Planned Mach Number -Required True Airspeed -Required Calibrated Airspeed -Distance Flown -Endurance -Fuel per Hour -Actual Mach Number -Percent Mean Aerodynamic Chord (MAC) -Required Rate of Climb -Specific Range -Top of Descent -Required Rate of Descent 18 AVIATION CONVERSIONS -Celsius :: Fahrenheit -Nautical Miles :: Statute Miles -Nautical Miles :: Kilometers -Feet :: Meters -Pounds :: Kilograms -Avgas Gallons :: Pounds -Jet A Gallons :: Pounds -Gallons :: Liters -Hours/Minutes/Seconds :: Hours CALCULATOR -Perform basic math without having to exit the application CLOCK/TIMER -Simultaneous tracking of Zulu, Home and Local time zones -Advanced timer counts up or down and operates independently so you can perform other calculations while the timer is running -Upon reaching zero in the countdown mode, a message will display no matter what app is active – a useful feature for missed approaches, switching fuel tanks, etc. Includes E6B app for Apple Watch

  • Key Function now Missing

No weight and balance, what where you thinking that is a key function when planning. Very disappointed as I used it on every flight as a matter of fact it was really the only function I ever used. Will not be a useful tool for me until the weight and balance function is restored!

Looks like the density altitude calculations are off. Older version much better.
  • Good but expensive

Greetings developers! As an app developer myself, I understand some of the difficulties of reworking an application. It can be a hard hit to end up with 2.5 stars for something you worked hard on (the current situation). I like the app and I also have a few suggestions. First off, make it cheaper! Do a sale! Get new users for $2 and they'll infuse new life into this. $10 isn't way too expensive normally but your rating is 2.5 and nobody wants to pay $10 for a 2.5 level app. Thankfully, your app is better than that! Get new users who will like it for the features it does have. Secondly, add weight and balance. Not hard to do, and that's your users' main concern right now. With those two changes you'll have a much better (and more profitable) app. Finally, my own suggestion: in landscape orientation, split the screen and put the calculator numbers on the right (or left) so all the content can fit without scrolling. Hope this helps, and good luck!

As others have said, very disappointed that W&B does not yet exist in the new version. As a manager of an app development company, I recognize there are difficult decisions that have to be made when doing a rewrite of an existing app. Do we delay the release to get all the previous functions in the new app or do we release earlier and progressively add back the remaining functionality? But you have to recognize that when you remove a core function that is typically used in all flight planning, it is going to cause significant heartburn for existing users. The decision maker in this case clearly chose incorrectly. The best course of action is to recognize and acknowledge the mistake, and work as diligently as possible to correct it. The worst course of action would be to remain radio silent.
  • Diss appointed with update

When this app updated on my phone it lost all the weight and balance information on several planes I fly. Also I did not see any weight and balance categories. On my iPad I did not update it and still have that information and categories. I sent an email to Sporty’s 2 days ago and have not received a reply. Then it updated itself somehow . Do not buy this ...till they can fix every issue and return lost functions.

Updated version removed weight and balance capability, sort of defeats the purpose of this as a useful preflight tool. Sorry Sportys, you’ve lost a long time customer to the competition.
  • W&B feature not available

Previous version included a weight and balance feature that was great for flight planning. Text and layout too small for available space to allow use in flight. Be benefit to reinstall the W&B and change timer to facilitate holds and allow other calcs at same time.
